In June 2001, Pfizer, the global pharmaceutical giant, opened a $294 million headquarters for worldwide research and development operations on an abandoned 22-acre brownfield site in the port town of New London, CT. The building serves as headquarters for the world’s largest private biomedical research operation. 2,000 scientists, statisticians, executives and other professionals work in the 750,000 square foot-facility.
