The Minority/Female Supplier Program represents an opportunity for Xerox. Any corporation that wants to stay competitive must constantly seek new markets, new technologies, new products and new alliances. The energy and creativity provided by young, expanding firms can make them valuable business alliances for Xerox through their ability to quickly adapt to specific business needs. It makes good strategic sense to form alliances with new and promising businesses.

Xerox

The Document Company Xerox, based in Stamford, CT, knows that its minority and women suppliers equal or surpass the performance standards established by the corporation for its overall supplier network. Minority- and women-owned businesses delivered a 10.1 percent cost savings to Xerox on production parts and assemblies. Quality performance was 354.5 rejected parts per million which equals 99.96 acceptance – a rate consistently and significantly better than the 700 rejected parts per million target. Relative to delivery/landed lead time, 85.7 percent of these suppliers met their benchmark delivery schedule of seven weeks or less which equaled the overall supplier base performance. In recognition of these standards, in 2001 the company increased its investment in products and services from women and minority producers. The company spent more than $434 million in purchasing and procurement with MWBE suppliers alone, up from $419 million in 2000. Xerox’s commitment has been nationally lauded. Most recently, Xerox has received multiple Supplier Diversity Awards including awards from the Upstate New York Minority Purchasing Council (2), Women Working Magazine, U.S. Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce, Fortune Magazine, Women Business Enterprise National Council, and the Native American Chamber of Commerce.
