| Eaton Corporation |
Eaton Corporation is a global $7.3 billion
diversified industrial manufacturer headquartered in Cleveland,
OH with a production facility in inner-city Milwaukee, WI. In
Milwaukee, Eaton partnered with a local community-based organization
to assist with its workforce needs. Eaton cites its alliance
with the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation
as a testament that community success plays a role in business
success. The two joined forces to strengthen the community by
developing programs that enhanced education, public safety,
and promoted economic self-sufficiency. Together, Eaton and
the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation created
a school-to-work program that kept youth off the streets and
taught them portable job skills. Candidates were given 12 weeks
of electronic assembly courses at a local college and two weeks
of employability and life skills training. The program sent
60 percent of graduates to college.
