National Association of Manufacturers/
Center for Workforce Success (NAM)

National Association of Manufacturers/Center for Workforce Success (NAM) is the largest industrial trade organization in the U.S. representing the nation's manufacturers. The Center for Workforce Success is the workforce development arm of the NAM's research and education affiliate, the Manufacturing Institute. The CWS offers educational information, industry data and resources to help manufacturers develop innovative workforce solutions.

NAM recognizes that advances in technology, changing demographics and a global economy have forever changed the nature of the American workforce. Hiring and retaining skilled employees is a top priority for manufacturers. The Center for Workforce Success provides resources that help manufacturers stay competitive in the global economy.

A recent NAM survey revealed that more than 80 percent of manufacturers report a shortage of qualified workers in spite of the economic downturn. A complete review of survey results, along with key findings and a summary of actionable steps for employers to take in addressing these challenges, can be found in the recently released Skills Gap 2001 Report.

The Center conducts research and provides technical assistance on workforce development issues and workplace trends that affect its member companies. The Center also recognizes and celebrates workforce excellence with the annual NAM Awards for Workforce Excellence, honoring manufacturing teams that have made extraordinary contributions to their companies' successes.
