| The Center
for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI), an initiative of Shorebank
Advisory Services, brings together diverse members of the financial
services marketplace to encourage the development of asset-building
opportunities that create value for both customers and companies.
CFSI provides funding and resources,
enables partnerships, and develops and distributes authoritative
information on how to respond to the needs of the underbanked profitably
and responsibly. The Center is the source for key market intelligence
on new products, the business benefits of serving underbanked consumers,
and case studies that help financial services firms obtain competitive
advantage in the marketplace. At www.cfsinnovation.com,
CFSI offers a clearinghouse of relevant news and research, including
over 150 white papers and reports. One recent publication, Stored
Value Cards: A Scan of Current Trends and Future Opportunities
(July 2004), highlights the introduction and growth of new stored
value card products from many of America’s largest financial
institutions. Visitors to the site can also register to receive
updates on relevant news and research as soon as it becomes available.
In addition to providing high quality research data, CFSI serves
as a meeting place and a laboratory where industry leaders can test
new products and services. Funding provided by CFSI is used to support
the market research, development activities, and pilot testing needed
to launch new financial products, services, partnerships, and outreach
strategies that will help underbanked consumers build assets.
CFSI also engages in relevant policy discussions through its collaborations
and provides an enabling policy environment for policy makers, regulators,
financial services firms, and consumer advocates to come together
to discuss important issues.
