Brody Weiser Burns (BWB)

Brody Weiser Burns (BWB) is a management consulting firm that utilizes business tools to facilitate social change. Founded in 1984, BWB specializes in developing corporate-community partnerships that create business value and improve the lives of low-income individuals. BWB also develops business plans for nonprofit ventures, and advises private placement social investors.

BWB helps foundations and corporations to make social investments and program-related investments (PRIs) in the form of loans, equity investments and recoverable grants to nonprofits or social purpose businesses committed to social change. BWB has developed tailored PRI approaches, evaluated the merits of potential investments, and developed investment structures to minimize financial risk. BWB also provides strategic planning assistance to corporate-community partnerships, foundations, nonprofit organizations, social-purpose business ventures, and government agencies.

John Weiser, BWB founding partner, co-authored with the Institute for Social and Ethical AccountAbility's Simon Zadek, an innovative book entitled “Conversations with Disbelievers: Persuading Companies to Address Social Challenges”. The book brings together much of the available quantitative evidence about how investment of corporate resources in the community can boost the bottom line. The research findings from the book serve as a foundation for the work that BWB conducts in the areas of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and program design for corporations, foundations, and leading nonprofit organizations.
